Le Snowshoe (qui signifie "chaussure de neige") doit son nom aux beaux poils blancs qui recouvrent ses pieds.
Descendant du Siamois, il a hérité de son désir irrépressible d’être toujours au centre de l’attention et d'une curiosité indomptable. Cependant, le Snowshoe est légèrement plus calme et moins bavard que son ancêtre.
Et il est un parfait chat de famille : il a la réputation d’être à la fois calme et vif, équilibrant agréablement les séances de jeu et les périodes de tendresse.
Un autre point positif est que ce chat ne présente aucune maladie héréditaire connue et a une santé assez robuste.
