Aujourd'hui, zoom sur le Basenji !
Le Basenji est un chien primitif originaire du Congo et il descend du lévrier d'Égypte. En Belgique, la race est encore peu connue. Pourtant, ce beau toutou est adorable et convient à la plupart des familles. Néanmoins, ce poilu actif et endurant fera un excellent compagnon pour un maître sportif.
Le Basenji s'éduque facilement mais dès son plus jeune âge l'accent doit être mis sur le rappel. Sinon, il se laisse parfois guider par son puissant flair et ne revient pas toute de suite.
Ce petit poilu est robuste mais il peut présenter des soucis de santé dus à la consanguinité. En effet, les Basenji sont peu nombreux et l'élevage de cette race doit se faire de manière consciencieuse.
